Week 7 Thoughts and Quotes
President Hinckley gave some great advice when he gave that talk way back in '96. I was actually a senior in High School and this is the first time I believe I have ever read it. It means a lot to me to know that even the prophet struggled some when he was a child. If only I would have listened to his advice as I grew up and graduated, i believe there is so much I would have done differently. At the time, I was just living my life for me instead of thinking of others as much as I should have.
The book Mastery was another game changer book for me. There were so many important skills that I am so grateful to take away from it. Such as, the plateau is where I will learn the most. Also, the person who is the master at something will always have room to grow more and learn much.
The seven habits summary was nice to read and I looked forward to reading it this week. Out of each of the habits I am most related with Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Communication has always been something I've laughed in and so after reading about understanding others, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not listening like I should be. In fact, I contact has always been one of my greatest weaknesses. Something that I would like to improve on, I believe this will help me to fully understand and listening to others instead of replying blindly to what the other person is saying. Trust is something that takes time and having empathy greatly improves the love and compassion towards someone.
