Week 9 Thoughts and Quotes

Thoughts for week 9:
This weeks lessons had leader written all over it.   This concept makes me think about my role as the mother in my home. It also makes me think about the "we know who wears the pants in your family." This describes me exceptionally well. Mostly because my husband is very passive. Which makes the family dynamics fall on me.  Being a mother has definitely given me a head start in the leadership department. I liked guy Kawasaki's talk about being a baker because you can make more pies and bigger pies. Also, he says they are the most trustworthy people. Learning this week to keep your ethical guard rails pasted on your mirror was also great advice.  My husband and I wrote on paper a few "will not's" for our guardrails after reading and understanding more about them in The Hero's Journey.   Now we just need to add "will do's" to this list to complete it.   The biggest thing I will take away from this week is being a discipleship leader. Knowing who I am and where I come from through Christ as my ultimate leader will position me higher than those who haven't learned yet about this concept or might not take it to heart.

Quotes:
Tempting as this may be, it is impossible to build an e ective organization without delegating important tasks to talented and capable people. It’s the only way to make a grand vision a reality.-Letter to Garcia

The secret to such success lies not within the IQ that you were born with but with having the character and courage to accept a worthy mission and get the job done. Master a discipline that brings you great joy and you will never want for opportunity.

A disciple is one who loves the Lord and serves Him with all of his or her heart, might, mind, and strength. -Bednar

The call to be a disciple-leader is a call to minister and to serve.  It is a call to lead as Christ leads.  It is leadership with a small “L”—the kind of leadership that builds and lifts and inspires through kindness and love and unselfish devotion to the Lord and His work.  It is the kind of leadership that we need at every level of every kind of organization in the world and in every ward and stake in the Church.  It is the kind of leadership you will need to build an eternal family. - Clark

To you mothers and fathers and prospective mothers and fathers, the very most important thing you can do for your children is to love each other and support each other and help each other become everything Heavenly Father wants you to be.  You stand before God and your children as husband and wife, father and mother, equal partners in the sacred responsibility of creating an eternal family. - Clark
